2026 Tokenization Outlook: What's Ahead

The State of Tokenization

As January draws to a close, we've seen more announcements in the past month regarding tokenization than in the previous year. The outlook for the space has never been stronger.

Tokenized funds are projected to reach $25 to $30 billion by year-end, according to Coinchange's 2026 institutional outlook. [1] BlackRock's BUIDL fund alone has grown to over $2.4 billion AUM. [2] JPMorgan's MONY fund launched in December. [3] Franklin Templeton's BENJI platform is closing in on $750 million.[4] The line between TradFi and crypto is continuing to blur and over time we expect them to become one.

On the regulatory front, the Clarity Act cleared the Senate Agriculture Committee this week on a 12-11 party-line vote.[5] It's not a done deal. Zero Democrats crossed over, and the path through the full Senate remains uncertain. But for the first time, comprehensive market structure legislation looks like it could reach the President's desk this year.

Meanwhile, Standard Chartered is projecting that stablecoins could pull $500 billion from traditional bank deposits by 2028.[6] We believe this will lead to the continuation of the post-2008 trend of banks retreating from certain segments of lending including SMB lending as the deposit base contracts. For non-bank lenders, this represents a massive opportunity. Holders of stablecoins will be looking to put those assets to work and lending protocols such as Zivoe are well positioned to absorb those assets.
